BJP Win Triggers Sealing of Delhi Secretariat Amid Security Warnings
The Delhi Secretariat has been temporarily sealed due to security concerns following the BJP's victory in the 2025 assembly elections. The General Administration Department issued a notice to ensure the safety of records
To address security and protect records, the Delhi Secretariat has been temporarily shut. The General Administration Department (GAD) of the Delhi government issued a notice explaining the decision.

Security Measures and Record Protection

The notice clearly stated, "To address security concerns and the safety of records, it is requested that no files/documents, computer hardware, etc. may be taken outside the Delhi Secretariat complex without permission from GAD." Additionally, it directed the concerned Branch In-charges under various departments to ensure the safety of all records, files, and documents under their sections. The instructions also applied to electronic files.

Election Results Impacting the Move

The temporary closure comes as vote counting for the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections continues. Early trends from the Election Commission suggest that the BJP is making a strong comeback in Delhi.

Directive Applies to All Secretariat Offices

The order also applies to both the Secretariat offices and the Camp Offices of the Council of Ministers. In-charges of these offices have been instructed to follow the directive strictly. The order was signed by Pradeep Tayal, Joint Secretary (GAD).

Election Trends and Predictions

According to the Election Commission’s official data, key AAP leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia have lost their seats. However, Chief Minister Atishi has secured a victory from Kalkaji. As of 2 pm, the BJP was leading with 40 seats, having already won eight. The AAP, led by Kejriwal, was leading in 14 seats, with eight wins.

BJP's Strong Comeback Predicted

Exit polls had predicted a major comeback for the BJP, marking the party’s return to power after 27 years. The People’s Pulse exit poll forecasted the BJP winning 51-60 seats, while Axis My India projected 45-55 seats. The election saw a voter turnout of approximately 60.54%, with the 70-member assembly election taking place on Wednesday, February 5.
