Indian Super League 2024-25: Hyderabad FC Holds Mumbai City to 0-0 Draw at Home
Hyderabad FC and Mumbai City FC played to a goalless draw, with both teams unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities despite dominant performances.

Hyderabad FC played out a goalless draw against Mumbai City FC at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in the Indian Super League 2024-25. Despite controlling 64.6% possession and taking eight shots on target, Mumbai City couldn’t find the back of the net. As a result, their unbeaten away streak extended to eight games. Mumbai City FC now sits in 5th place with 32 points from 21 games. On the other hand, Hyderabad FC has remained unbeaten in their last three home matches, with two wins and one draw.

Early Chances for Mumbai City FC

From the start, Mumbai City FC looked dangerous. In the 9th minute, Lallianzuala Chhangte raced through Hyderabad’s defense and took a shot, but it narrowly hit the woodwork. Shortly after, in the 23rd minute, Chhangte and Jorge Ortiz combined for another attempt. Ortiz’s shot was blocked, and Chhangte’s follow-up was saved by Hyderabad’s goalkeeper, Arshdeep Singh.

However, Hyderabad FC also had their moments. In the 36th minute, Ramhlunchhunga tried an ambitious shot from outside the box. He aimed for the top left corner, but Mumbai's goalkeeper, Phurba Lachenpa, made a timely save to keep the score level.

Second Half Opportunities

In the second half, both teams continued to press for a goal. In the 50th minute, Chhangte set up Jon Toral in a great position. However, Toral’s shot was saved by Arshdeep Singh at the bottom right corner. Then, in the 65th minute, Edmilson Correia had a chance for Hyderabad FC, but his shot was blocked by Mumbai’s defense.

Counter-Attacks from Mumbai City FC

Towards the end, Mumbai City FC shifted to a counter-attacking approach. In the 83rd minute, Chhangte had an excellent opportunity after a fast break. However, his shot went wide of the left post, leaving both teams with a point each.

Alex Saji of Hyderabad FC was a key performer in the match. He made two clearances, two tackles, and also created one goal-scoring opportunity.
