UK PM Starmer Accuses Putin of Ignoring US Ceasefire Plan
UK PM Keir Starmer accused Putin of ignoring the US ceasefire plan and urged world leaders to support Ukraine.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for not taking the US ceasefire proposal seriously. He warned that Putin must not manipulate the peace process. His comments came after Putin questioned how the 30-day ceasefire proposed by US President Donald Trump’s administration would work.

“We can’t allow President Putin to play games with President Trump’s deal,” Starmer said in a statement from Downing Street. Furthermore, he added, “The Kremlin’s complete disregard for President Trump’s ceasefire proposal only serves to demonstrate that Putin is not serious about peace.” According to Starmer, Putin is deliberately delaying the ceasefire.

Starmer Pushes for a Global Coalition

Meanwhile, Starmer prepared to present a peace plan to 25 world leaders. He wants European and NATO countries to commit to supporting Ukraine. Leaders will meet in a virtual summit on Saturday morning.

Since Trump started talks with Moscow last month, Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have worked to form a “coalition of the willing.” They argue that this group, along with US support, will help protect Ukraine and prevent Putin from breaking a ceasefire.

Additionally, Starmer and Macron have agreed to send British and French troops to Ukraine. However, other countries have not yet confirmed if they will do the same.

On the other hand, Turkey has shown interest in peacekeeping efforts. Meanwhile, Ireland’s Prime Minister Micheál Martin has ruled out sending Irish troops.
