Disha’s Retro Saree Look Sparks Mixed Reactions Online
Disha Patani’s bold tribute to Madhuri Dixit’s iconic Dhak Dhak look sparked mixed reactions, with Diet Sabya calling it a "watered-down rerun."

Fashion often comes back in cycles. However, not every style revival succeeds. Recently, Disha Patani made headlines for her bold outfit at the second edition of MAMI Select. Instead of praise, her look attracted criticism. Leading the charge was Instagram’s outspoken fashion critic, Diet Sabya.

Disha Pays Tribute to Madhuri’s Dhak Dhak Look

Years ago, Madhuri Dixit became a sensation with the song Dhak Dhak Karne Laga. Her orange saree, conical halter-neck blouse, and low-draped pallu became iconic.

Similarly, Disha tried to recreate that moment. She wore a shiny orange saree with a full-sleeved embroidered blouse. The blouse had a sweetheart neckline. The saree sat low on her waist, highlighting her curves—just like Madhuri's did.

To complete her look, Disha left her hair open, wore a pair of earrings, and chose heels. Moreover, she went with soft, dewy makeup to let her outfit stand out. Despite the effort, the response wasn’t as expected.

Diet Sabya Criticizes the Look

Soon after, Diet Sabya reacted strongly. The account posted, “Some tributes are best left in the archives. And in the milieu of Dishafication™, that legendary Dhak Dhak ensemble doesn’t land sorry. It’s a NO. Not homage, not nostalgia — just a watered-down rerun (and looks tacky on her?) with none of Madhuri’s original sensuality. Next!”

The phrase “Dishafication™” hinted at Disha’s typical glamorous style. However, Diet Sabya’s post suggested that the issue wasn’t just about Disha’s fashion. Instead, it highlighted how hard it is to recreate a classic without losing its charm.

Social Media Reacts

As expected, reactions poured in. Some fans agreed with Diet Sabya. They said the outfit felt forced and lacked originality. Others, however, defended Disha. They believed she had every right to reinterpret a legendary look.

Nevertheless, one thing became clear—recreating a fashion icon like Madhuri requires more than glitter and skin. It demands presence, grace, and charisma. When a top fashion critic draws the line, the industry takes note.
