Kerala police arrested Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko on Saturday. After the arrest, Kochi City North Police took him to the General Hospital for a medical examination related to a drug use case.

Shine Responds to Police Notice

The arrest happened after Shine ran from a Kochi hotel room during a police raid. Earlier, police had informed that he would appear at 10:30 am. However, he arrived at the Ernakulam North Police Station at 10 am—half an hour earlier—along with his legal team. Shine came in response to a notice, which asked him to explain why he fled the hotel.

Vincy Aloshious Accuses Shine of Misconduct

This incident comes soon after actress Vincy Aloshious accused Shine of inappropriate behavior and drug use on a film set. She filed a formal complaint with both the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce and the film industry’s internal complaints committee.

BJP Leader Slams Kerala Government

Meanwhile, BJP leader Nivedita Subramanian criticized the Kerala government for ignoring the growing cases of abuse against women in the film industry. She told “In Kerala, abuse of women and children is on the rise, especially in sectors like the film industry. There have been many issues, such as the casting couch, but the ruling party is actually silent on these matters and is blind to the atrocities happening to women.”

She also said that despite raising the issue several times, the government has taken no action. “We have raised this issue many times before the ruling party and the leaders of the state, but the government is actually doing nothing to address it and is facilitating such mafias,”
she added.

Vincy Shares Her Experience in Video

Vincy, known for her roles in Rekha, Vikruthi, and Jana Gana Mana, posted an Instagram video to speak up. She explained why she publicly refused to work with people who use drugs. “Some days ago, at an anti-drug campaign, I made a statement that I would not work with people I know who use drugs. After that, several comments were made questioning my statement, and I felt the need to clarify why I had made it. I am doing this video to make my stand clear,” she said.

Actor Allegedly Misbehaved on Set

She recalled that while working on the film Suthravakyam, Shine behaved inappropriately. According to her, he misbehaved with her and a colleague while under the influence of drugs. In one instance, he offered to help her fix a wardrobe issue in front of everyone, which made her uncomfortable.

Drug Use Allegation on Set

Vincy also claimed that she saw Shine using a white powder during a rehearsal. “He was spitting some kind of white powder onto the table, which was very evident that he was using drugs on set,” she said. Although the situation made her uneasy, she kept working because Shine played the lead role. She added that the production team knew about the issue. The director even addressed it briefly, but the shooting continued as planned.

Film Chamber Begins Review

Now, the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce is reviewing the complaint filed by Vincy. The case continues to draw attention as more voices speak up for accountability in the industry.
