IPL 2025 | MI vs CSK : Mumbai Indians Ready to Challenge Revived CSK
Mumbai Indians gear up to face Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede as both teams look to build momentum in IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians (MI) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 38th match of IPL 2025. The match will take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday evening. To begin with, CSK ended their five-match losing streak in the last game. Now, they aim to build on that momentum with another win on the road. Although they beat MI earlier this season in Chennai, MI now have a stronger team. In fact, they have added Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, who missed the earlier game.MI’s Form Has Improved.
Initially, MI struggled with two losses. However, they bounced back strongly. They have now won games both at home and away. Moreover, they have performed well in different match conditions—batting first and chasing.Currently, their top-order is scoring runs freely. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s form remains a concern. Additionally, their middle-order is striking the ball well. Most importantly, their international bowling attack is finally clicking. This was clear in their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

CSK Still Searching for Balance

On the other hand, CSK are still figuring out their best playing eleven. Even though they beat a strong LSG side, many players are out of form. Head coach Stephen Fleming acknowledged this. He said, “We’re looking to give younger players more chances moving forward.”Fortunately, their bowling attack impressed against LSG. Now, they hope their batters will step up at Wankhede. According to Fleming, improving the batting performance is their next priority.

Brevis Joins CSK Squad

In a new development, Dewald Brevis has joined the CSK team. He arrived on Saturday and is available for the match. However, he hasn’t trained much yet. Therefore, CSK might try out young players like allrounder Ramakrishna Ghosh or pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Ravindra Jadeja will likely continue batting at number four.

Pitch Report

Generally, Wankhede offers a flat and hard surface with good bounce. As a result, it helps batters score freely. Also, the short boundaries and fast outfield support high run totals. In the early overs, pacers might get some assistance from the pitch. Later on, spinners can play a role in the middle overs. Still, the pitch does not favor spin as much as Chennai or Delhi tracks.

Weather Report

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather in Mumbai will be clear. The maximum temperature could reach 34°C, while the minimum may fall to 25°C.
