IPL 2025: Punjab Kings Seal Commanding Win Over Lucknow Super Giants
Punjab Kings outclassed Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs as blazing knocks and sharp bowling powered them to a dominant win in Dharamshala.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) outplayed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 37 runs in the 54th match of IPL 2025 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. First, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh delivered blazing knocks to help PBKS set a massive target. Then, as LSG began their chase, Arshdeep Singh dismantled their top order. LSG had lost half their side before the 10-over mark. Although Badoni and Samad tried to fight back, Punjab’s bowlers kept the pressure on. Eventually, they wrapped up the innings and secured a convincing win for Punjab Kings.

Early Blows to Punjab Kings

Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and chose to bowl first. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened for Punjab Kings. Akash Singh started the proceedings for LSG and struck early. He dismissed Arya for just 1 run in the first over. Josh Inglis then walked in and opened his account with a boundary. Only 6 runs came from the first over.

In the second over, Mayank Yadav faced the wrath of Inglis, who smashed three consecutive sixes. However, Akash Singh bowled a tight third over and gave away only 2 runs. After 3 overs, PBKS stood at 28/1.

Mayank returned for the fourth over. Prabhsimran attacked with two sixes and a four. Inglis greeted Akash Singh with a six in the fifth over, which also brought up the 50 for PBKS. But Akash got his revenge, removing Inglis for 30 off 14 balls. Shreyas Iyer walked in and hit a boundary first ball. In the sixth over, Avesh Khan bowled and Pooran dropped a sitter off Prabhsimran. The batter ended the over with a four. PBKS reached 66/2 after the powerplay. Prabhsimran was on 29 off 15 balls, while Iyer had 6 off 3.

Middle Overs Steady the Ship

Digvesh Singh came on for the seventh over and conceded 7 runs. Akash Singh bowled the eighth over, and Iyer added a boundary. After 8 overs, Punjab were 85/2.

Prince Yadav bowled the ninth, and Prabhsimran struck two fours. Avesh Khan returned for the 10th over and gave away only 5 runs. At the halfway mark, PBKS were at 100/2. Prabhsimran was batting on 48, and Iyer on 20.

Mayank Yadav bowled the 11th. Iyer hit a four, and Prabhsimran reached his half-century in 30 balls. Prince Yadav bowled the 12th, and Iyer started with a six and followed it with a four. Digvesh Singh returned in the 13th, and Iyer smashed a six but fell on the next delivery for 45 off 25. Nehal Wadhera walked in and opened his account with a four. PBKS were 134/3 after 13 overs.

Power-Hitting

In the 14th, Wadhera hit a six off Prince Yadav. In the 15th, Prabhsimran smacked a six, taking the total to 150. He added another six and a four. After 15 overs, PBKS were 161/3. Prince Yadav struck on the first ball of the 16th, dismissing Wadhera for 16. Shashank Singh joined Prabhsimran, who hit a six later in the over. Mayank Yadav bowled the 17th, and Shashank hit a four and a six. PBKS reached 186/4.

Avesh Khan came in for the 18th. Shashank started with two boundaries, and Prabhsimran hammered two sixes and a four. PBKS crossed 200 in the same over. Digvesh Singh kept it tight in the 19th and removed Prabhsimran for 91 off 48. Marcus Stoinis came in and hit a boundary first ball. PBKS ended the over at 220/5. In the final over, Stoinis smashed a six and took a single. Shashank wrapped it up with a boundary. Punjab Kings finished at 236/5. Shashank remained unbeaten on 33 off 15, while Stoinis scored 15 off 5.

LSG Lose Early Wickets in Chase

Chasing 237, LSG opened with Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh. Arshdeep Singh bowled the first over and conceded just 3 runs. Marco Jansen bowled the second over. Markram hit a six and a four. In the third over, Arshdeep removed both Marsh and Markram. Marsh scored 3, while Markram got 13. Pooran and Rishabh Pant came in next. LSG were 16/2 after 3 overs.

Rishabh smashed a six off Jansen in the 4th. Pooran hit a four in the 5th, but Arshdeep got him on the next ball for 4. Ayush Badoni joined Pant. Only 6 runs came from the fifth over. Azmatullah Omarzai bowled the sixth. Badoni hit a six. After 6 overs, LSG were 38/3. Pant was on 6, Badoni on 9.

Middle-Order Fights Back

Chahal came on for the 7th. Pant hit two boundaries. Omarzai bowled the 8th, and Badoni hit a four. But Omarzai dismissed Pant for 18. David Miller entered next. LSG reached 58/4 after 8 overs.

Chahal bowled the 9th and Miller launched a six. Omarzai returned for the 10th and took out Miller for 11. Abdul Samad joined Badoni. After 10 overs, LSG were 74/5.

Samad and Badoni Counterattack

Jansen bowled the 11th. Samad hit a four. In the 12th over, Samad welcomed Vyshak Vijaykumar with a six. Badoni followed up with two fours and a six. LSG crossed 100 in that over.

In the 13th, Samad smacked two sixes off Chahal. LSG reached 116/5. Vyshak bowled the 14th, and Badoni’s boundary brought up a 50-run stand with Samad. Marcus Stoinis bowled the 15th. Samad added a six and a four. After 15 overs, LSG were 143/5.

Punjab Seal the Game

Arshdeep returned in the 16th and gave only 6 runs. Jansen bowled the 17th and dismissed Samad for 45. Avesh Khan joined Badoni. LSG were 158/6. Badoni launched a six on the first ball of the 18th over, reaching his half-century in 32 balls. He hit another six and a four. 18 runs came from the over.

Omarzai bowled the 19th. Avesh hit a four, and Badoni added a six. Chahal came on for the final over. He dismissed Badoni for 74 off 40. Prince Yadav walked in. Avesh hit a six and a four. LSG finished at 199/7 and lost the match by 37 runs. Avesh remained unbeaten on 19, and Prince Yadav on 1.

Punjab Kings have strength and firepower throughout their lineup. Even after losing early wickets, they managed to post a massive total. The way Prabhsimran Singh played was impressive. Shreyas Iyer also played a fine knock, and Shashank Singh once again delivered a blazing innings at the end.

When Lucknow Super Giants came to bat, Arshdeep Singh rattled their top order. Rishabh Pant needs to improve his batting. Abdul Samad and Ayush Badoni have had a wonderful season so far and showed great fighting spirit.
