Pakistan Targets Indian Military Bases
According to officials, Pakistan tried to attack Indian bases in cities like Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. They used drones and missiles for these attacks. However, India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems intercepted and destroyed the incoming threats.
As a result, debris from these attacks is now being collected from multiple locations. This confirms Pakistan’s involvement.
India Hits Back
In response, Indian forces carried out precise strikes on Wednesday morning. They targeted Pakistan’s Air Defence radars and systems at various locations. A key radar system in Lahore was reportedly destroyed.
The Ministry of Defence said, "The Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised as Pakistan continued unprovoked firing along Line of Control (LoC) for 12 straight days since Operation Sindoor."
Background: Operation Sindoor
Earlier, India launched Operation Sindoor in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 Indian civilians. During a press briefing on May 7, Indian officials stressed that their actions were “focused, measured and non-escalatory.” They also clarified they had not targeted Pakistani military bases. But they warned: "Any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response."
Pakistan Escalates Firing Across LoC
Meanwhile, Pakistan has increased firing across the Line of Control. They are using mortars and heavy artillery in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors.
Tragically, 16 civilians have died in this cross-border firing, including three women and five children. Due to these attacks, India was forced to respond to stop the shelling.
India’s Stand on Escalation
Despite the rising tension, India remains committed to peace. However, it made clear that any aggression would be met with equal force.
Indian Armed Forces stated that they "reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military."
