Pakistan increased its cross-border aggression on Thursday by launching drone strikes. These attacks hit areas near the border in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and later reached parts of Gujarat and Punjab. This marked a significant escalation from previous minor skirmishes, which mostly involved small arms fire.
Locals Witness Drones and Respond Calmly
Despite the chaos, local residents showed courage and trust in India's security forces. One villager told, "Though the retaliatory firing continued the entire night, we aren't scared."
He described seeing drones at around 8 PM. "I live in a nearby village. At exactly 8 PM, we saw 3–4 drones. We kept our children inside while the firing continued almost the entire night. What Pakistan did is not right. We are not scared," he said.
Strong Support for Indian Army and PM Modi
Another resident expressed full confidence in the Indian Army and Prime Minister Modi. He praised their quick response. "...There was a complete blackout last night, after which drones started flying and firing continued the entire night. Our forces are giving Pakistan a befitting reply. We have trust in our Prime Minister and our Army. All drones were neutralised by our forces. We are proud of our country..." He also noted that while border areas remain tense, other places are secure.
Explosions Heard in the Early Hours
A third person shared how the night unfolded. "As soon as we started dinner last night, we heard the sound of some explosions... Explosions were heard again at around 4:30 a.m., but they were also neutralised by our forces. There is nothing to worry about. Our forces are on alert..."
He also condemned the targeting of civilians. "Attacking civilians is nothing but cowardice because they (Pakistan) don't have the courage to fight our forces... Our forces are giving a befitting reply and we are proud of them..."
Air Defence Systems Blocked Attacks
Sirens went off across Jammu and nearby areas. Locals reported hearing several blasts. Many shared mobile phone videos showing bright streaks in the sky. These visuals appeared to show Indian air defence systems intercepting missiles and drones mid-air.
India Issues Strong Response
Soon after neutralising the threats, the Defence Ministry released a statement. It confirmed that military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were targeted. "Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani-origin drones and missiles along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir today," said a spokesperson.
He added, "The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with established standard operating procedures (SOPs)." The ministry assured that India is "fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people."
Another Attack Within 24 Hours
These latest attempts by Pakistan to hit Indian military bases happened less than a day after a similar incident. The Indian Armed Forces stayed alert and responded swiftly once again.
