Zendaya has become known for her unforgettable fashion on red carpets. Whether it's a movie premiere or the Met Gala, she always impresses. However, during this year’s Met Gala, Zendaya unexpectedly wore an outfit similar to Shōgun star Anna Sawai. Their matching looks led fans on social media to compare them and ask, “Who wore it better?”

Stylist Law Roach Responds

Zendaya’s longtime stylist Law Roach has now spoken out about the moment. He said there is no issue between the two stars or their teams.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Roach explained, “I think people thought that there was some type of disappointment on our end. Her stylist Karla Welch and I are very friendly, we've known each other for years, and Karla and I talked. Zendaya sent Anna flowers, you know, because it was her first Met.”

He made it clear there were no hard feelings. He continued, “It wasn't any disappointment. It was like two people paying homage to two different people. Yoko being Anna's inspiration, and Diana and Bianca being ours. It just happened and they both looked great. They are both beautiful women and I mean I hate the way that people try to pin women and stylists against one another. It was all great.”

About Their Outfits

Zendaya wore a custom-made three-piece Louis Vuitton suit, designed by Pharrell Williams. Roach styled the look. Meanwhile, Anna Sawai chose a similar outfit—a tailored Dior suit matched with Cartier jewelry.

Theme of the Gala

This year’s Met Gala followed the theme Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The concept was inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion. It explored how Black men used fashion to express identity across the African diaspora. For the first time in over 20 years, the Met Gala focused mainly on menswear, with a dress code titled Tailored for You.
