Gujarat Titans (GT) clinched a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 60th match of IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Delhi Capitals posted 199/3, powered by a blazing century from KL Rahul. In reply, Gujarat Titans chased down the target with ease, thanks to a brilliant century from Sai Sudharshan and an unbeaten 205-run opening stand between Sudharshan and Shubman Gill.
DC Start Steady After Choosing to Bat
Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first. KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis opened for Delhi Capitals. Mohammed Siraj bowled the first over, and Rahul struck two boundaries. Arshad Khan followed up with a tight second over, conceding just 2 runs. Siraj returned for the third and gave away only 3 runs. After 3 overs, DC reached 14/0.
In the fourth over, Arshad Khan dismissed Faf du Plessis for 5 off 10 balls. Abhishek Porel walked in at No. 3. DC managed only 5 runs and lost a wicket in that over. Siraj bowled the fifth over, where Rahul added two more boundaries. In the sixth over, KL Rahul exploded with two sixes and a four off Kagiso Rabada. DC reached 45/1 after the Powerplay. Rahul was batting on 36 off 23 balls, while Porel had just 1 off 3.
Rahul Leads Steady Middle Overs
Prasidh Krishna bowled the seventh and gave away 5 runs. DC crossed the 50-run mark in that over. Rashid Khan kept things tight with another economical over. After 8 overs, DC stood at 55/1.
In the ninth, Porel took charge with a four and a six off Prasidh. The pair also completed a 50-run stand. Rahul brought up his half-century with a boundary in the tenth over bowled by Rashid. He took 35 balls to get there. DC were 81/1 after 10 overs. Rahul was on 56 off 38, while Porel had 15 off 12.
Porel Departs, But Rahul Marches On
Rahul and Porel hit a six each in Rabada’s 11th over. In the 12th, Rahul’s single brought up DC’s 100. Porel then smashed a six but fell to Sai Kishore on the next delivery for 30 off 19. DC were 106/2. Axar Patel joined Rahul at the crease. Rashid bowled the 13th and gave away 7 runs. After 13 overs, DC were 113/2.
Sai Kishore returned for the 14th. Rahul hammered three consecutive boundaries. Axar got a boundary in Rashid's 15th over. DC moved to 136/2.
Rahul Hits Ton as DC Post Strong Total
In the 16th over, Axar smashed a four and a six as DC reached 150. Prasidh Krishna dismissed him in the next over for 25 off 16 balls. Tristan Stubbs came in at No. 5. Only 7 runs and a wicket came from that over. DC were 158/3 after 17 overs.
Stubbs hit a six in the 18th over. In the 19th, Rahul brought up his century with a six and a four off Prasidh. He took 60 balls to reach the milestone. The over yielded 14 runs. Siraj bowled the last over. Rahul hit back-to-back boundaries, Stubbs added a six, and DC finished at 199/3. Rahul remained unbeaten on 112 off 65 balls. Stubbs was not out on 21 off 10.
GT Openers Dominate the Chase
Chasing 200, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan opened for GT. Axar Patel bowled the first over. Sudharsan hit a four and Gill smashed a six. GT scored 11 in the first over. In the second, Sudharsan took charge with a six and three boundaries. He continued with two more boundaries off Axar in the third over. GT raced to 43/0 after 3 overs.
Mustafizur Rahman kept it tight in the fourth, giving only 6 runs. Chameera gave just 3 in the fifth. Mustafizur returned for the sixth, and Sudharsan added a boundary. After the Powerplay, GT were 59/0. Sudharsan was on 44 off 23, and Gill had 15 off 13.
GT Stay on Track with Solid Middle Overs
Vipraj Nigam bowled the seventh and conceded just 4 runs. Kuldeep Yadav gave away 7 in the eighth. GT were 70/0. In the ninth, Sudharsan completed his fifty with a boundary. Gill followed with a six. GT gathered 12 runs in that over. Kuldeep returned for the tenth, and Gill struck another six. GT stood at 93/0 at halfway. Sudharsan was on 55 off 34, and Gill had 36 off 26.
Gill Joins the Party, GT Cruise
Gill smashed a six in the 11th over from Nigam, taking GT past 100. In the 12th, Sudharsan hit a six. GT were 115/0. In the next over, Gill reached his fifty with a four, taking 33 balls. He followed it up with a six, while Sudharsan added a boundary on the last ball. GT surged to 134/0 after 13 overs.
Gill welcomed Kuldeep with a boundary in the 14th. In the 15th, he hit a six and brought up the 150-run stand with a single. GT were 154/0.
Sudharsan Hits Century, GT Win Big
Mustafizur returned for the 16th, and Sudharsan smashed consecutive boundaries. GT added 11 runs. In the 17th, both Gill and Sudharsan found the boundary again. GT moved to 183/0. In the 18th, Sudharsan reached his century with a six. He took 56 balls to get there. GT were 194/0, just 6 away from victory.
In the 19th over, Sudharsan finished the match with a six. GT chased down 200 with 12 balls to spare, winning by 10 wickets. The opening pair set a record stand of 205 runs. Sudharsan remained unbeaten on 108 off 61 balls, and Gill on 93 off 53.
Brief Scorecard
Two superb centuries by Sai Sudharshan and KL Rahul, along with a massive opening stand between Gill and Sudharshan, defined the game. There was nothing in it for the bowlers.
