The Kremlin responded after US President Donald Trump called Russian President Vladimir Putin “absolutely crazy.” Trump made this remark after Russia launched its largest airstrike on Ukraine over the weekend.
Trump Reacts to Russia’s Biggest Air Attack
Over the weekend, Russia carried out its most powerful aerial assault since the war began. In response, Trump said Putin had “gone absolutely CRAZY.” He also said he was considering new sanctions against Moscow. However, he didn’t just stop at Putin. Trump also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
Kremlin Thanks Trump but Points to Emotions
When asked about Trump’s comment, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov offered a careful response. He said, “We are really grateful to the Americans and to President Trump personally for their assistance in organising and launching this negotiation process.”
Still, Peskov hinted that emotions may have played a role in Trump’s words. He added, “Of course, at the same time, this is a very crucial moment, which is associated, of course, with the emotional overload of everyone absolutely and with emotional reactions.”
Tensions Continue to Rise
Clearly, Trump’s statement shows how serious he views the latest Russian attack. Meanwhile, the Kremlin tried to keep its message balanced. On one hand, it praised Trump’s earlier diplomatic role. On the other hand, it blamed his strong words on emotional stress caused by the situation.
