MS Dhoni is back in the headlines. The ICC has inducted the former Indian captain into its elite Hall of Fame. This latest honour marks another big moment in his glorious cricket journey. It came just weeks after a quiet spell following IPL 2025, during which Dhoni avoided public attention and gave no hint about his future with Chennai Super Kings.

Recognition Ends Dhoni’s Silence

After CSK played their final match of the season, Dhoni stayed silent about whether he would return next year. He quietly went back to Ranchi and stayed away from the media. However, the ICC honour has brought him back into focus.

At the same event, the ICC also honoured other legends. These included Matthew Hayden from Australia, Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla from South Africa, and Daniel Vettori from New Zealand. On the women’s side, England’s Sarah Taylor and Pakistan’s Sana Mir were also inducted.

In ODIs, Dhoni scored 10,773 runs in 350 matches. His average stood at 50.57, with 10 centuries and 73 fifties.

He also performed well in Tests. He made 4,876 runs in 90 matches, averaging just above 38. His tally included six centuries and 33 half-centuries. In T20Is, he added 1,617 runs from 98 matches, averaging 37.60.

Dhoni Reacts with Gratitude

Dhoni expressed his joy after the ICC honour. He said, “It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever.”
