Israel launched a sudden airstrike on Iran early Friday. Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed the attack. As a result, explosions echoed across Tehran. Many residents woke up to the loud blasts. Moreover, Iranian state television acknowledged the incident.

Israel Declares Emergency and Closes Schools
Following the strike, Katz declared a “special situation” across Israel. He announced that all schools would remain closed on Friday. So far, officials have not revealed which Iranian sites were hit.
Katz warned, “Following the State of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future.”
Iran Responds With Warning
Meanwhile, Iran’s military reacted strongly. In a post on X, it stated, “Remember, we didn’t initiate it.”

This shows that Iran views Israel’s strike as the start of the conflict and may respond in kind.
Israel Prepares for Retaliation
Consequently, the Israeli Defence Ministry announced a nationwide state of emergency. The ministry warned that Iran may launch missiles and drones in the coming hours.
It added, “Therefore, and in accordance with his authority under the Civil Defense Law, Defence Minister Israel Katz has now signed a special order, according to which a special state of emergency will be imposed in the home front throughout the entire State of Israel.”
US Says It Was Not Involved
On the other hand, the White House did not immediately respond to the attack. However, according to Reuters, two US officials confirmed that the United States did not assist or take part in the operation.
