Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom End Nine-Year Relationship
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have ended their nine-year relationship and called off their engagement, marking a peaceful split after years of shared milestones.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship. They got engaged in 2019. However, after spending almost nine years together, they have decided to go their separate ways. People magazine confirmed the split.

How Their Story Began

They first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes afterparty. Perry later shared the moment fondly on American Idol. She said, “I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes and we weren’t together… all of a sudden I see my boyfriend’s hand — he wasn’t even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs [a burger] and I was like, ‘Hey that’s my burger!’”

Soon after, their relationship became public. They attended the Cannes Film Festival together and made things official on Instagram.

First Breakup and Reconnection

In February 2017, the couple confirmed their breakup. Even then, they stayed on good terms. As Bloom explained, “We’re friends, it’s good. It’s better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don’t have to be about hate.”

By early 2018, they were seen together again. At that point, sources said they were taking things slowly. “They are not girlfriend and boyfriend… but they do seem very happy together,” one insider told People.

Later that year, they made their red carpet debut at the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco.

Engagement and Family

In 2019, Bloom proposed on Valentine’s Day. According to sources, “Orlando had planned this for a while.” He even asked for Perry’s parents’ blessing. The couple announced the engagement on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Fans welcomed the news with joy.

Initially, they planned to get married in Japan during the summer of 2020. But the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the wedding.

Meanwhile, Perry announced her pregnancy in the music video for “Never Worn White.” She gave birth to their daughter, Daisy Dove, in August 2020. Bloom also has a teenage son, Flynn, with his ex-wife, Miranda Kerr.

Peaceful Separation

Despite their many shared milestones, the couple has now split. So far, they have not revealed the reason. Still, reports suggest the breakup was amicable.
