Manushi Chhillar Slams Misogyny in Films, Calls for Respect for Women
Manushi Chhillar calls out gender bias, promotes fitness as a lifestyle, and reveals her personal haircare secrets.

Manushi Chhillar recently called out misogyny in the film industry. She said the way some people talk about women is often disrespectful. Manushi decided to speak up now because she believes women deserve better.

She Takes a Stand

Manushi posted on X, saying women in entertainment are “discussed with such disrespect and contempt.” She felt the need to call it out.

When asked what pushed her to speak, she explained, “I don't think it's something which happens everywhere, and I don't think that everyone is like that, but I do see it happen sometimes — where women aren’t given the credit in the way that a man would be.”

She insisted that society must celebrate women’s achievements. She added, “We need to give women credit where it’s due, especially in their professional lives, and acknowledge the fact that there are multiple women achievers who succeed based on their talent, hard work, and dedication, just like we do with men.”

Recently, Wella Professionals named her their brand ambassador in India.

Fitness Is Her Priority

Manushi won Miss World 2017 and soon entered Bollywood. She starred in Samrat Prithviraj, The Great Indian Family, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Through it all, she stayed committed to fitness.

She said fitness goes beyond gym hours. She explained, “It’s a lifestyle. I see a lot of people dedicating a certain amount of time to go work out at the gym, but then, you know, the rest of the day they're probably not eating well, or they’re living a very lethargic lifestyle.”

She believes every choice matters. She said, “These are choices you have to make all the time, and you need to make sure that you’re supporting that one hour at the gym with making healthier choices — from the food that you’re eating to not sitting for a very long time.”

To her, fitness is daily discipline. “Fitness is holistic, and you need to make it a lifestyle instead of just a choice for an hour or two,” she added.

Hair and Confidence Go Together

Manushi said her hair is part of her confidence. She shared, “My hair has always been a key part of my confidence and on-screen presence, which is why I take its care seriously.”

She believes both internal and external care matter. Pollution, travel, and styling damage hair, so she stays cautious.

She sticks to a routine. She explained, “I make it a point to keep it clean and healthy by maintaining a scheduled hair wash routine. On rushed days or when I’m having a bad hair day, I often opt for a sleek hairstyle—it’s quick, simple, and always works.”

However, she said lifestyle is just as important. “A healthy lifestyle, eating well, staying hydrated and getting enough rest, forms the foundation for strong, beautiful hair,” she said.

She focuses on products that don’t weigh hair down. “Choosing the right products and focusing on getting the basics right is the key. I’ve come to really appreciate treatments that nourish without weighing hair down,” she added.
