Ravindra Jadeja, known for his playful nature, added some fun during the tense fourth day of the India vs England Test at Edgbaston. While the match was in full swing, cameras captured a funny exchange between Jadeja and on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney.
As Gaffaney adjusted the bails, Jadeja walked over and said something that made both of them smile. Then, Jadeja playfully poked the umpire, clearly enjoying the moment.
Soon after, the stump mic picked up Jadeja saying, “Huh! I'm cheating?” His tone was light, showing it was just friendly banter. However, the exact conversation wasn’t clear. Still, their laughter said it all.
Not Their First Friendly Chat
Earlier in the series, Jadeja and Gaffaney had shared another cheerful moment. During the Headingley Test, India managed to get the old ball changed. Jadeja celebrated that decision by walking over and smiling with Gaffaney. The umpire enjoyed the moment too.
Stokes and Jadeja Clash Over Pitch Area
Despite the laughter, Jadeja faced some heat during the match. England captain Ben Stokes accused him of running on the danger area of the pitch. Stokes repeatedly complained to the umpires while Jadeja was batting.
Later, Jadeja expressed his frustration. “He feels that I am making it rough for myself. In fact, he was making it rougher by using fast bowlers. I didn't have to make it rough,” Jadeja said.
“He was repeatedly telling the umpire that I was running on the wicket. But that was not my intention. I ran here and there a few times. But that was in his mind.”

India Dominate as England Collapse Early
Meanwhile, India gained a strong position in the match. Right after the fun moment, Akash Deep struck a big blow. He bowled Ben Duckett with a brilliant delivery that nipped back in and hit the stumps. That wicket left England struggling at 30/2.
India kept the pressure on. By the end of Day 4, England were 72/3, chasing a massive target of 608. Although they fought back from a similar situation earlier, this time India looked sharper.
India Eye Series-Leveling Win on Final Day
Now, India need just seven wickets on the final day to level the series. On the other hand, England will rely on their fearless batting to save the Test. With both teams ready for battle, Day 5 promises thrilling cricket. But Jadeja’s joyful moment with Gaffaney stood out, showing how sport can still offer laughter even in high-pressure moments.
