Trump Seals Oil Deal with Pakistan, Says India May Be Future Buyer
Trump announces oil development deal with Pakistan, hints at possible exports to India, while pressing ahead with trade talks amid fresh tariffs.

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States and Pakistan have signed an agreement to work together on developing Pakistan’s large oil reserves. While the partnership has been finalized, the American oil company that will lead the project is yet to be chosen.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We have just concluded a Deal with the Country of Pakistan, whereby Pakistan and the United States will work together on developing their massive Oil Reserves. We are in the process of choosing the Oil Company that will lead this Partnership. Who knows, maybe they’ll be selling Oil to India some day!”

This announcement came shortly after Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Indian imports, criticizing New Delhi’s ongoing energy cooperation with Russia.

Trump Says White House Focused on Global Trade Deals

In the same post, Trump shared that he was actively talking to leaders of several countries about trade deals. He claimed that many nations were now offering to reduce tariffs, which, he said, would help the US lower its trade deficit.

“We are very busy in the White House today working on Trade Deals. I have spoken to the Leaders of many Countries, all of whom want to make the United States ‘extremely happy’,” he wrote.

He added that he was scheduled to meet with a delegation from South Korea later in the day. “South Korea is right now at a 25% Tariff, but they have an offer to buy down those Tariffs. I will be interested in hearing what that offer is.”

Trump also said other nations were offering to reduce trade barriers. “Likewise, other Countries are making offers for a Tariff reduction. All of this will help reduce our Trade Deficit in a very major way. A full report will be released at the appropriate time. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Talks with India Still On, Says Trump

Speaking separately at a White House press briefing, Trump confirmed that discussions with India on trade were ongoing. This came despite the new tariffs on Indian goods.

When asked if the US was open to resolving the dispute through dialogue, Trump replied, “We are negotiating, and we’ll see what happens.”

He again pointed out that India maintains some of the world’s highest tariffs. “We’re talking to them now. We’ll see what happens,” he repeated.
