Operation follows deadly Kulgam encounter
This latest gunfight comes just a day after two soldiers died in an overnight firing in Kulgam district. Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh lost their lives as Operation Akhal entered its ninth day.
Mission launched after specific intelligence
Security forces began the mission on August 1 after they received precise information about terrorist presence. Since then, they have maintained a strong presence in the region, intensifying the search.
Tributes pour in for fallen soldiers
The Chinar Corps honoured the two soldiers, writing on X, “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. Indian Army expresses deepest condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. Operation continues.”
Multiple forces involved in Kulgam fight
The Kulgam encounter involved the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG). The joint action killed at least one terrorist, but the operation remains active as forces continue combing the area.
