Raveena Tandon Marks Independence Day with a Different Message
Raveena Tandon marked Independence Day by urging “freedom for all” and opposing the Supreme Court’s order to relocate stray dogs in Delhi-NCR.

Actress Raveena Tandon celebrated Independence Day this year with a unique wish. While most people shared patriotic messages, she called for “freedom for all” and highlighted the plight of stray dogs. Her Instagram post featured a picture of a stray dog holding the Indian Tricolour high in the sky.

Her post came amid growing criticism of the Supreme Court’s recent order to move all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to special shelters.

Actress Speaks Out Against Supreme Court’s Decision

On Instagram, Raveena wrote, “Freedom for all. #delhincrindies. When the authorities fail, there is always a fall guy. Inefficiency/corruption has led to this disaster.”

Speaking to Hindustan Times, she said, “I feel where the population of indies has increased, it is honestly not these poor dogs to be blamed. It means the vaccination and sterilisation drives aren’t done by local bodies.”

She added, “If that was a success, or the money and infrastructure was set properly, I don’t think we would have reached this point. Local bodies are responsible for the strays in their communities, and sterilisation is the need of the hour.”

Details of the Supreme Court’s Stray Dog Ruling

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court ordered all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to be caught within eight weeks and kept in special shelters created by civic authorities. Once caught, the dogs will not be released back onto the streets.

A bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan issued the directive while hearing a case about the rising number of stray dog attacks. The court warned that anyone obstructing the capture process would face contempt of court.

The judges also ordered the launch of a helpline in Delhi-NCR to report dog bite cases. Authorities must catch the dog involved within four hours of receiving a complaint.

Raveena’s Recent Work

Raveena returned to films with the thriller Maatr and later starred in the web series Aranyak as police officer Kasturi Dogra. She appeared in K.G.F: Chapter 2 and Ghudchadi with Sanjay Dutt. Recently, she has featured in projects like Patna Shuklla, Karmma Calling, and Inn Galiyon Mein.
