Kevin O’Brien Speaks Out Against Racist Attacks on Indians in Ireland
Former Ireland cricketer Kevin O’Brien condemned the rising racist attacks on Indians in Ireland, calling them “deeply saddening” and urging unity against hate.

Former Ireland cricket star Kevin O’Brien has raised his voice against the sharp rise in racist attacks on Indians in Ireland. His statement came after a shocking incident last Sunday, when three teenagers attacked an Indian man in Fairview Park, Dublin. In recent weeks, such violent incidents have grown rapidly, creating fear among the Indian community. Many families now feel unsafe in public spaces.

O’Brien Calls Attacks “Deeply Saddening”

In a video message posted on X, O’Brien expressed grief and disappointment. He said he was “deeply saddened” by these acts of hate. “I want to say how deeply saddened I am by the recent racist and hateful acts against Indians in Ireland. These attacks do not represent who we are as a people. India and its people hold a very special place in my heart,” O’Brien said.

He also reminded Indians that they play a vital role in Irish society. “I want to reiterate to the Indian community that Ireland is your home too. Your contribution to Irish society is immense, and we deeply value everything you do. Please remember that the bond between our countries will remain unshaken by the actions of a small few,” he added.

A Growing Pattern of Violence

This recent attack is not an isolated case. Earlier this month, a six-year-old Indian girl was brutally attacked outside her home. A group of boys kicked, punched, and hit her in private areas. Shockingly, they told her to “go back to India.” In another disturbing incident, an Indian chef was assaulted by three people on his way to work. These cases highlight a disturbing trend that shows no signs of slowing down.

Fear and Concern Within the Community

Because of these repeated attacks, fear has spread through the Indian community in Ireland. Many people now avoid certain areas, and parents worry about their children’s safety. Community leaders have urged authorities to act quickly and ensure stronger protection for immigrants. The latest case in Dublin has further deepened concerns. Many now believe that unless strong steps are taken, such attacks will continue.

A Call for Unity and Action

Kevin O’Brien’s strong message has been welcomed by many. His words serve as a reminder that Ireland values its Indian community. However, community members say solidarity alone is not enough. They want the government and police to take stricter measures against hate crimes. By speaking out, O’Brien has become one of the first prominent Irish voices to openly condemn the attacks. His appeal is clear: Ireland must stand together against racism and hate.
