Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he and US President Donald Trump had reached an “understanding” on Ukraine during their recent talks. He cautioned European nations against undermining the progress made, warning them not to “torpedo” the efforts.
Putin emphasized that the discussions could become a foundation for resolving the war in Ukraine and for improving ties between Moscow and Washington. “I expect today’s agreements will become a reference point, not only for addressing the Ukrainian issue, but also for restarting business-like, pragmatic relations between Russia and the United States,” he said.
Trump’s Response on Ukraine Talks
Soon after, Trump addressed reporters, saying he had not yet spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but planned to do so in the near future. He also said he would hold discussions with European leaders on the matter.
Trump described his meeting with Putin as “extremely productive.” However, he clarified that no final agreement had been reached to end the war. “There’s no deal until there’s a deal,” Trump said during the joint press conference in Anchorage.
