He added that the India–France Strategic Partnership would continue to play a key role in fostering global peace and stability.
Context of the Conversation
The discussion between Modi and Macron came just two days after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke with PM Modi about India’s role in ending the Ukraine conflict.
Von der Leyen emphasized India’s influence, saying, “We warmly welcome India’s continued engagement with President Zelenskyy. India has an important role to play in bringing Russia to end its war of aggression and helping create a path towards peace.”
Macron’s Recent Announcement
Earlier this week, Macron hosted a Paris summit focused on Ukraine’s security. During the summit, he announced plans to deploy a “reassurance force” in Ukraine once a ceasefire is reached.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the meeting in person, while leaders such as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined remotely, according to France 24.
Macron was also among the European leaders who met US President Donald Trump and President Zelenskyy at the White House last month to discuss peace efforts and security guarantees for Ukraine.
Invitation to AI Impact Summit
During their conversation, PM Modi thanked President Macron for accepting India’s invitation to attend the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.
Modi expressed his eagerness to host the French leader, saying that the event would be an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in emerging technologies and innovation.
Commitment to Peace and Stability
Both leaders agreed to stay in close contact and continue working together to promote peace and stability, not only in Ukraine but also globally.
Reaffirming this commitment, PM Modi posted on X that the India–France Strategic Partnership will “continue to play a key role in fostering global peace and stability.”
