BJP Names Folk Singer Maithili Thakur Among 12 Candidates in Second Bihar Poll List
BJP has fielded folk singer Maithili Thakur from Alinagar as it released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has named folk singer Maithili Thakur as its candidate from Alinagar for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The party announced its second list on Tuesday, adding 12 more names. With this, the BJP has declared 83 candidates out of 101.

BJP Releases Second List

The new list features Ram Chandra Prasad from Hayaghat, Ranjan Kumar from Muzaffarpur, and Subhash Singh from Gopalganj. It also includes Kedar Nath Singh from Baniapur, Chhoti Kumari from Chapra, Vinay Kumar Singh from Sonepur, and Birendra Kumar from Rosera (SC). Other names are Dr. Siyaram Singh from Barh, Mahesh Paswan from Agiaon (SC), Rakesh Ojha from Shahpur, and IPS officer Anand Mishra from Buxar.

On October 14, the BJP had released its first list of 71 candidates. With the new announcement, the party has covered most of its constituencies.

Election Schedule Announced

The Bihar Assembly elections will take place in two phases — on November 6 and November 11. The counting of votes will happen on November 14.

Key Leaders Present at Selection Meeting

The BJP said its Central Election Committee met on October 12 to finalize the names. The meeting was chaired by party president Jagat Prakash Nadda. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah also attended.

Prominent Names in First List

The first list included several senior leaders. Mangal Pandey will contest from Siwan, Tarkishore Prasad from Katihar, Ramkripal Yadav from Danapur, and Nitin Nabin from Bankipur. Other key names are Renu Devi from Bettiah, Prem Kumar from Gaya Town, Shreyasi Singh from Jamui, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha from Lakhisarai, and Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary from Tarapur.

The BJP’s latest list highlights its strategy to combine political experience with fresh faces as Bihar heads into a high-stakes election.
