FC Goa Narrowly Lose 1-2 to Al-Nassr in AFC Champions League

FC Goa lost 1-2 to Saudi giants Al-Nassr FC in their third group-stage match of the AFC Champions League Two at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Wednesday. Brison Fernandes scored FC Goa’s first goal of the campaign. Angelo Borges and Haroune Camara scored for Al-Nassr, who conceded their first goal this season.

Al-Nassr Controls the Game

Al-Nassr dominated with 79% possession. They pressed high and moved the ball quickly. Ayman Yahya, Borges, and Camara constantly troubled Goa’s defense. The visitors attempted 18 shots, four on target, and completed 90% of their passes.

Borges opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a right-footed shot from outside the box. Camara doubled the lead in the 27th minute, slipping the ball past goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari despite heavy defensive pressure.

FC Goa Fights Back

FC Goa made a forced substitution in the 25th minute, bringing on Brison Fernandes for the injured Javier Siverio. Marquez adjusted tactics, adding more midfielders to slow Al-Nassr’s attacks.

Fernandes soon scored. Herrera’s through ball allowed him to beat a defender and curl a precise strike into the corner. Goa went into halftime trailing 1-2.

Second Half: Al-Nassr Holds Control

Al-Nassr slowed the game but kept control. Marran nearly scored from Sultan’s cross but missed.

Marquez brought in Ayush Chhetri and Abdul Rabeeh in the 66th minute. Goa created some chances. Boris Singh’s shot was saved and flagged offside. Rabeeh made strong runs down the right but could not score.

Group D Standings

The loss keeps FC Goa at the bottom of Group D. Al-Nassr remains at the top. FC Goa will travel to Riyadh for the return match on November 5.
