Rohit and Kohli Power India to a Dominant Win in the Third ODI
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli powered India to a dominant nine-wicket win over Australia in the final ODI, avoiding a series whitewash in Sydney.

India crushed Australia in the 3rd ODI of the three-match series in Sydney. Australia managed to score 236 in 46.4 overs after a good start but lost their last seven wickets for just 53 runs. Matt Renshaw scored a half-century, while Mitchell Marsh made a useful contribution.

In reply, India chased down the target in 38.3 overs, losing only one wicket. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli produced a brilliant partnership to guide India to a dominant nine-wicket victory. The win helped India avoid a series whitewash. Australia won the series 2-1.

Rohit continued his fine form from Adelaide and scored his 33rd ODI century in 105 balls. It was his ninth ton against Australia. Kohli, who had suffered two ducks earlier in the series, returned to form with an unbeaten 74.

The duo shared a 168-run stand from 170 balls. Rohit attacked with a series of boundaries, while Kohli sealed the win with a soft glide to third man.

Australia’s Missed Chances

Australia chose to bat first after winning the toss — the 18th time in a row India lost the toss in ODIs.

Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head gave them a quick start. Marsh pulled Prasidh Krishna for six in the opening overs. Head became the fastest Australian to 3,000 ODI runs, but their momentum faded quickly.

After Head’s dismissal, wickets fell regularly. Marsh was bowled by Axar Patel soon after. Renshaw tried to rebuild, but India’s bowlers tightened their grip.

Australia Lose Momentum

Australia started well but collapsed from 183 for 3 to 236 all out. They lost seven wickets for 53 runs.

Matt Renshaw’s maiden ODI fifty gave them a steady start. However, no one in the top six could convert their starts. Harshit Rana bowled brilliantly and took a career-best 4 for 39, while India’s spinners kept the pressure on.

Carey’s Painful Exit

Alex Carey struggled for rhythm and was dropped early. He was later caught brilliantly by Shreyas Iyer, who dived backward and landed heavily, injuring himself. Carey left the field and was taken to hospital for tests.

Renshaw fell to Washington Sundar, and the lower order collapsed. Australia were bowled out with 20 balls remaining.

Rohit and Gill Set the Tone

Rohit and Shubman Gill gave India a solid start in the chase. The openers looked confident, and the crowd cheered every run. Gill hit a six off Cooper Connolly but edged Josh Hazlewood behind soon after.

That brought Kohli to the crease to loud cheers. His first-ball flick for runs drew a massive roar. He played several stylish shots, including a straight drive off Mitchell Starc.

Rohit’s knock featured clean sixes off Adam Zampa and powerful drives through the off side. He reached his century calmly with a shot to long-off and raised his bat to acknowledge the crowd.

Rohit and Kohli Deliver the Finish

India’s chase turned into a masterclass. Rohit’s clean hitting and Kohli’s composure thrilled the fans. Their unbeaten partnership powered India to a confident win.

The match also marked what could be their final ODI appearances in Australia — a fitting farewell for two modern greats.

The Sydney crowd got what they wanted. Rohit Sharma did what he can do with the bat. Virat Kohli also came back in his form. It is a good sign for India because how much dangerous could these two prove had already cricket fans know. Although India lost the series but team India will work on their weak points before the next series. Australia collapsed after a good start was a rare phenomenon. They have batting depth. Australia won the sries 2-1 and hopefully they will improve their weaknesses before the next T20I series against India starting from 29th October. Stay tuned with JUSZNEWS for regular updates!
