Prashant Kishor Listed as Voter in Both West Bengal and Bihar, Report Reveals
Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor has been found listed as a voter in both West Bengal and Bihar, according to reports. His Bengal address matches the Trinamool Congress office in Bhabanipur.

Political strategist-turned-leader Prashant Kishor has his name registered in the voter lists of both West Bengal and Bihar, The Indian Express reported. In West Bengal, his voter address is 121 Kalighat Road, which houses the Trinamool Congress (TMC) office in Bhabanipur — the constituency represented by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Meanwhile, in Bihar, Kishor’s name appears under the Sasaram Parliamentary constituency, within the Kargahar assembly segment. His polling booth is Madhya Vidyalay, Konar, located in Rohtas district, which is also his ancestral village.

Ties With Trinamool Congress

Kishor had earlier worked as a political consultant for the Trinamool Congress during the 2021 West Bengal assembly election. His Bengal polling station is listed as St Helen School on B Ranishankari Lane, according to the report.

A senior member from Kishor’s team told The Indian Express that he became a voter in Bihar after the 2021 Bengal election. The team member added that Kishor has applied to cancel his Bengal voter ID, but did not confirm whether the process was complete.

Bihar’s Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal did not respond to queries about the issue, the report mentioned.

Political Reactions

The controversy drew sharp political reactions, especially from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya mocked the situation, saying, “If his (Kishor's) party had any real presence in Bihar, this would have been a major controversy. But it isn’t — because Jan Suraj doesn’t matter.”

He also accused the Opposition of “the hypocrisy” over the issue.

“Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor is listed as a voter in both West Bengal and Bihar… What’s more telling is that all of Rahul Gandhi’s allies are complicit in ‘Vote Chori.’ The hypocrisy is astounding,” Malviya posted on X.

TMC’s Local Response

Local TMC councillor Kajari Banerjee, who is also Mamata Banerjee’s sister-in-law, confirmed that the address at 121 Kalighat Road belongs to the party office.

She said, “He (Kishor) used to visit and stay in that building (during his work with the TMC). I am not sure whether he enrolled (as a voter) from here or not,” the newspaper quoted her as saying.

Kishor, now leading the Jan Suraaj Party, is preparing to contest the upcoming  . His name appearing on two voter lists has raised questions about voter registration procedures and electoral oversight in both states.
