Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day by launching multiple development projects worth over ₹8,140 crore. The projects aim to strengthen infrastructure, improve water and energy supply, and boost education and agriculture.
Massive Investment in Key Sectors
PM Modi inaugurated projects worth ₹930 crore and laid foundation stones for new works worth ₹7,210 crore. These projects cover vital sectors such as drinking water, irrigation, power, technical education, sports, and urban development. The government said the initiative will speed up growth across the state.
Direct Support for Farmers
The Prime Minister also transferred ₹62 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 28,000 farmers under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana. This step, he said, would strengthen rural livelihoods and offer financial security to farmers affected by crop losses.
Key Projects Inaugurated
PM Modi inaugurated the Dehradun water supply project covering 23 zones under the AMRUT scheme. He also launched an electrical substation in Pithoragarh district and solar power plants on government buildings. In addition, an AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital was opened to promote sports infrastructure.
Major Water and Energy Projects
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for two major hydro-sector projects — the Song Dam Drinking Water Project and the Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project.
The Song Dam will supply 150 million litres of drinking water daily to Dehradun. Meanwhile, the Jamarani Dam in Nainital will provide drinking water, support irrigation, and generate electricity. Together, these projects aim to improve both water security and power generation in the region.
Boost for Education and Rural Development
Other new initiatives include building electrical substations, establishing a Women’s Sports College in Champawat, and setting up a modern dairy plant in Nainital. These projects will create local jobs, improve education opportunities, and empower women in the region.
Grand Celebration at FRI
The state government organised a grand Silver Jubilee event at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun. The event celebrated 25 years of Uttarakhand’s statehood. Massive arrangements were made, and over one lakh people were expected to attend the ceremony.
PM Modi launched projects worth ₹8,140 crore to mark Uttarakhand’s 25th anniversary. The new projects focus on water, power, education, and agriculture, aiming to boost growth and create long-term benefits for the state.
