Smriti Mandhana has confirmed her engagement to music composer Palash Muchhal. She made the announcement on Thursday with a choreographed Instagram video. The clip featured her India teammates and quickly went viral. The video did not mention a wedding date, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed it later in his message.
Mandhana danced alongside Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy. They performed a coordinated routine to “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya” from the film Lage Raho Munna Bhai. In the final frame, Mandhana showed her ring and ended months of speculation.

Rumours about the couple had been around for a long time. Last month, Muchhal hinted at the wedding during an event at the State Press Club in Indore. He did not confirm anything directly, but he said Mandhana would soon become the “daughter-in-law of Indore”.
Wedding Confirmed for November 23, 2025
Prime Minister Modi congratulated the couple in a detailed message. He praised their values and wished them a life filled with “trust, love and harmony.” He said Mandhana’s “cover drive” and Muchhal’s “musical symphony” would form a beautiful partnership. In that same message, he revealed that the couple will get married on November 23, 2025.
Engagement Follows World Cup Triumph
Mandhana’s announcement comes soon after a major achievement on the field. Last month, she helped India win their first Women’s ODI World Cup in Navi Mumbai. India defeated South Africa in the final. Mandhana dominated the tournament with 434 runs in nine innings. No Indian batter has scored that many runs in a single World Cup edition.
