CDS Anil Chauhan Highlights India’s Strength at Air Force Academy, Takes Subtle Dig at Pakistan
CDS General Anil Chauhan said wars are won through decisive action, not rhetoric, as he addressed new officers at the Air Force Academy amid Operation Sindoor.

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan on Saturday sent a clear and firm message. He said wars are not won through words or slogans but through clear intent and purposeful action. His remarks carried a subtle but sharp message aimed at Pakistan.

General Chauhan was speaking as the presiding officer at the Combined Graduation Parade of the Autumn Term, December 2025, held at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal.

“Purposeful Action, Not Empty Rhetoric”

In his address, the CDS criticised symbolic gestures and hollow statements. He stressed that real military strength comes from discipline, planning, and decisive execution.

“Wars cannot be won by rhetoric, but by purposeful action," he said.

His comments came at a time when Pakistan, despite suffering heavy losses during Operation Sindoor, has seen its leadership and social media push false claims of victory.

Warning Against Institutional Weakness

General Chauhan said many parts of the world are facing instability. He linked this to weak institutions and reactive decision-making. In a veiled reference to Pakistan, he warned that such fragility often leads to prolonged conflict and insecurity.

“Around us we often witness developments that signal institutional fragility and reactive adjustments. In contrast, India’s strength rests on robust institutions, democratic stability and unwavering professionalism of our Armed Forces," he said.

India’s Strength Lies in Its Institutions

Contrasting global instability, the CDS highlighted India’s strengths. He said strong institutions and democratic stability form the foundation of the country’s security.

He praised the armed forces for their professionalism and commitment to duty. According to him, these qualities act as the backbone of national defence.

General Chauhan said the Indian military earns credibility by adapting to change while staying rooted in strong values and institutional discipline. He told the young officers that they are now guardians of this proud legacy.

New Officers Join During Operation Sindoor

Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the CDS said they were beginning their careers at a crucial moment. He pointed out that Operation Sindoor is currently underway.

“You are joining the force when Operation Sindoor is on," he said.

He added that the present security situation demands constant readiness and high standards of professionalism from India’s military leaders.

Readiness Must Be a Daily Habit

General Chauhan said modern military service is not limited to brief moments of crisis. He urged officers to treat preparedness as a daily responsibility.

“Our strength will lie in the ability to remain alert, agile and prepared every hour, every day," he said.

He also encouraged officers to make victory a habit and part of the armed forces’ normal way of functioning.

Lead With Discipline and Vigilance

In his closing remarks, the CDS asked the graduates to lead by example. He urged them to stay focused on their mission and uphold the highest standards of vigilance and professionalism.

He said success in uniform depends not only on performance in war but also on sustained readiness throughout a military career.
