Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior Union ministers changed their profile pictures on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, one of India’s biggest military operations against terrorism.
The leaders adopted a common logo dedicated to the operation. The symbol features a shield in the colours of the Indian tricolour along with a saffron flame, representing the courage, sacrifice and determination of the Indian Armed Forces.
Sharing the updated logo, Modi wrote on X, “We remain steadfast in our resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem.”

Operation Sindoor reflected…
Several top Cabinet ministers joined the coordinated campaign. These included Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Operation Sindoor Began After Pahalgam Terror Attack
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. Pakistan-backed terrorists linked to The Resistance Front (TRF) “Falcon Squad” carried out the attack.
Survivors later described horrific scenes from the incident. According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers checked the identities and religious backgrounds of tourists before opening fire.
The massacre killed 26 civilians, including Hindu tourists and local workers. Indian intelligence agencies described the attack as a planned attempt to trigger communal tensions and “divide India from within.”
India Targeted Terror Bases Across Border
In response, India launched a large-scale military operation targeting nine major terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes reportedly focused on bases linked to terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Operation Sindoor also marked a major shift in India’s national security strategy. Indian forces used artificial intelligence, drones and precision-guided weapons during the operation. Officials said the mission went far beyond traditional border defence methods.
Operation Boosted India’s Defence Image
The military operation also highlighted India’s growing defence capabilities on the global stage.
Reports suggest that Indian defence exports have increased by more than 60 per cent since the strikes. Several countries have shown interest in indigenous defence systems such as the BrahMos missile and the Akash air defence platform, both of which India reportedly used during the four-day conflict.
Soon after top BJP leaders changed their profile pictures, thousands of party workers and supporters followed the move and adopted the same Operation Sindoor logo on social media.
