Iran Rejects Rubio’s Claims, Accuses US of Destabilising West Asia
The Iranian Embassy in India criticised Marco Rubio over his remarks on Iran, accusing the US and Israel of destabilising West Asia while defending Tehran’s nuclear programme and energy policies.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India strongly criticised recent comments made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and accused Washington of trying to divert attention from what Tehran described as the destabilising actions of the United States and the “Zionist regime” in West Asia.

The reaction came after Rubio, during talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, stated that the United States would not allow Iran to “hold the global energy market hostage.”

According to US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Rubio also discussed the possibility of increasing American energy exports to India in order to diversify the country’s energy sources amid continuing tensions in the region.

Iran Blames US Sanctions For Global Energy Disruptions

In a detailed statement released on May 24, the Iranian Embassy in India said Tehran has always been ready to supply oil and energy resources to countries worldwide, including India.

The Embassy argued that the real disruption to global energy markets has come from US sanctions imposed on Iranian oil exports. It described the sanctions as illegal and said they violate international law and the United Nations Charter.

Iran also claimed that American sanctions over the past several decades have affected not only the energy sector but also access to medicines and essential medical equipment for Iranian citizens.

According to the Embassy, these restrictions have created humanitarian suffering and endangered the lives of patients who require urgent treatment.

Iran Accuses US And Israel Of Regional Instability

The Embassy further accused the United States and Israel of increasing tensions in the region through military actions and provocative activities, especially around the Strait of Hormuz.

Tehran claimed these actions have threatened maritime security and worsened the global energy crisis.

Iran Defends Its Nuclear Programme

Responding to international concerns over its nuclear activities, Iran repeated that its nuclear programme is peaceful and remains under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The Embassy said Iran, as a member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, has a legitimate and internationally recognised right to peaceful nuclear technology.

Iran’s nuclear programme continues to remain at the centre of diplomatic negotiations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The issue has also become one of the biggest obstacles in efforts to secure a wider ceasefire agreement in the region.

Iran Says It Remains Prepared Against Threats

The Embassy also stated that Iran had resisted pressure and military aggression from the United States and Israel. Tehran claimed the country emerged stronger despite attempts to weaken its political system.

It added that Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any threat against the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
