US President Donald Trump unexpectedly ended his weekend stay at the presidential retreat at Camp David and returned to the White House on Saturday evening. According to Axios, Trump had initially planned to return to Washington on Sunday. The change came hours after a NORAD F-16 fighter jet intercepted an aircraft that entered restricted airspace near Camp David on Saturday morning. Trump was at the retreat when the incident occurred, according to officials cited by Fox News. NORAD used flares during the interception to alert the aircraft's pilot. The fighter jet then safely escorted the aircraft out of the restricted area, according to a statement from the Defence Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS). DVIDS also reminded pilots about the procedures they should follow if intercepted by a NORAD aircraft. "Should NORAD aircraft intercept a general aviation aircraft, the pilot should immediately come up on frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and turn around to reverse course until receiving additional instructions on one of those frequencies," the release said. The First Air Force, which is part of NORAD, also issued a warning to pilots on X following the incident. "Pilots! @NORADCommand fighter aircraft intercepted an aircraft violating restricted airspace over Thurmont, MD, resulting in flares being deployed," the First Air Force, part of NORAD, wrote on X on Saturday. "Make sure to check NOTAMs before takeoff to ensure you have current information about TFRs in your area. Stay Safe, Fly Informed!"

Trump Returns to White House Early From Camp David

The aircraft entered restricted airspace over Thurmont, Maryland, where Camp David is located. NORAD responded by sending an F-16 fighter aircraft to intercept it. The advisory also warned that Iranian-supported Houthi forces had engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks involving civilian airports. Americans outside the Middle East should seriously reconsider travel to and through the region," it added.

US Warns Americans About Middle East Travel Risks

The State Department advised Americans planning to travel to or from West Asia to closely monitor updates from airports and airlines. The advisory warned that changing security conditions could lead to flight cancellations, airspace closures and other travel disruptions. It also cautioned that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could target US interests outside the region. "Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions," the advisory read. The department urged Americans to stay informed about developments and remain aware of potential security risks while travelling in or through the region.
