Mumbai City had controlled the first half and entered the break with a 2-0 advantage through goals from Muhammad Ajsal (6') and Zothanpuia (27'). However, the hosts could not maintain their lead as SC Delhi mounted a late comeback.
Mumbai City Take Early Lead Through Ajsal
Mumbai City started aggressively and created an early opportunity through Akash Mishra. His through ball found Muhammad Ajsal inside the opening four minutes, but the forward's attempt was saved. The rebound reached Zothanpuia, whose follow-up effort was blocked by the SC Delhi defence.
The hosts continued their attacking approach and broke the deadlock in the sixth minute. Ajsal exchanged a quick one-two with Noufal before taking advantage of a defensive mistake by Lamgoulen Hangshing. He calmly finished the move to give Mumbai City a 1-0 lead. It was also the club's first goal from open play this season.
SC Delhi tried to respond quickly. Duvan Viafara tested the Mumbai City defence with a long-range left-footed effort in the 12th minute, but his shot sailed narrowly over the crossbar.
Mumbai City youngster Hridaya Jain also came close to scoring in the 23rd minute. He received a cushioned pass from Ajsal after Akash Mishra delivered a floated ball. However, Jain failed to keep his shot down and sent it over the crossbar.
Zothanpuia Doubles Mumbai City's Advantage

SC Delhi created a promising opportunity to reduce the deficit in the 35th minute. Sourav advanced from the right and passed the ball to Mohammad Azhar. The latter attempted a curling right-footed shot, but the effort struck the crossbar.
Despite that opportunity, SC Delhi could not find a goal before half-time. Mumbai City went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

However, Clarence Fernandes made an important sliding challenge to prevent the youngster from taking a shot. Jain was replaced by Farukh Choudhary shortly afterwards.
SC Delhi also threatened through Juan Pena in the 60th minute. The midfielder attempted a long-range strike, but Mumbai City goalkeeper TP Rehenesh managed to get his fingertips to the ball and keep it out.
