Ravindra Jadeja deleted his Instagram account on Monday. The move came as reports claimed he may leave Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before the new IPL season.

Several reports say Rajasthan Royals (RR) could trade captain Sanju Samson to CSK. In return, CSK may send Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to RR.

Neither team has confirmed the trade. But if true, it could be one of the biggest deals in IPL history.

Jadeja’s Long Journey with CSK

Jadeja joined CSK in 2012 and became one of its most trusted players. Except for the two years when CSK was banned, he stayed loyal to the team.

He helped CSK win three of its five IPL titles. Before the 2025 mega auction, the franchise kept him for ₹18 crore. He was CSK’s second-choice retention after captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Jadeja has played 254 IPL matches, the fifth-most in the tournament. He is also CSK’s top wicket-taker with 143 wickets, including a best of 5/16.

Heroic Moment in 2023 Final

Jadeja’s most famous moment came in the 2023 IPL final. He hit the winning runs in the last over against Gujarat Titans to seal CSK’s fifth title.

It was also his best bowling season, with 20 wickets. In 2025, he scored 301 runs with two fifties, proving his all-round value again.

Interestingly, Rajasthan Royals were his first IPL team. He joined them in 2008 as a 19-year-old and won the title that year.

Suspension and Return

In 2010, the IPL suspended Jadeja for trying to negotiate with Mumbai Indians directly. After serving the ban, he returned in 2011 to play for Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The next year, CSK picked him up — and the rest is history.

Sanju Samson May Leave RR

Reports suggest Sanju Samson could move to CSK in this trade. A senior CSK official told PTI that the team wants him badly.

“Everyone knows we are interested in getting Sanju. We have expressed our interest of procuring him in this trading window. RR is yet to confirm as their management said they are weighing the options. We are hopeful Sanju will play for CSK,” the official said.

Both teams have spoken to the players involved. However, the final deal depends on approval from the IPL Governing Council.

How the Trade Works

Both CSK and RR must submit a proposal to the IPL Governing Council. The proposal will name the three players — Jadeja, Sam Curran, and Sanju Samson.
