The White House has firmly rejected any connection between US President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after House Democrats released a set of emails that allegedly suggest Trump’s close contact with him.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the documents do not prove any wrongdoing by Trump. She stated, “These emails prove absolutely nothing, other than the fact that President Trump did nothing wrong.”
One of the emails released reportedly shows Epstein claiming that Trump “spent hours at my house” with one of his victims, Virginia Giuffre. However, Leavitt dismissed the claims, insisting that Trump had distanced himself from Epstein years ago.
Trump Distanced Himself from Epstein
Leavitt emphasized that Trump had expelled Epstein from his Florida resort for inappropriate behavior. She said, “What President Trump has always said is that he was from Palm Beach, and so was Jeffrey Epstein. Jeffrey Epstein was a member at Mar-a-Lago until President Trump kicked him out because Jeffrey Epstein was a pedophile and he was a creep.”
She stressed that Trump had no personal or professional involvement with Epstein beyond that.
What the Emails Reveal
The newly released emails include a 2011 message from Epstein to his close associate Ghislaine Maxwell, where he mentioned Trump’s interactions with one of Epstein’s known victims. Epstein wrote, “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump.” He added that the woman “spent hours at my house with him, he has never once been mentioned.”
Maxwell, who was later convicted of sex trafficking after Epstein’s death, replied, “I have been thinking about that…”
In another email dated January 31, 2019, Epstein allegedly told author Michael Wolff that Trump was aware of his activities. He wrote, “of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.”
Trump Accuses Democrats of Political Distraction
Trump responded strongly, accusing Democrats of reviving the Epstein issue to divert attention from domestic political debates, including the upcoming shutdown bill vote in the US House.
On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects.”
He further claimed that Democrats had damaged the country’s economy through their recent policies. Trump added, “Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap. The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk — and they should pay a fair price.”
