Bangladesh Crush Ireland by Eight Wickets in 3rd T20I to Seal 2-1 Series Win
Bangladesh crushed Ireland by eight wickets in Chattogram as Tanzid Hasan’s unbeaten half-century sealed a dominant 2-1 T20I series win.

Bangladesh crushed Ireland by 8 wickets in the third T20I of the three-match series in Chattogram. After being asked to bat first, Ireland could only manage 117 runs and were bowled out in 19.5 overs. Mustafizur Rahman (3/11 in 3 overs), Rishad Hossain (3/21 in 4 overs), and Shoriful Islam (2/21 in 3 overs) demolished the Irish batting line-up. Paul Stirling showed some resistance and finished as Ireland’s highest scorer.

During the chase, Bangladesh lost a few early wickets, but a blazing unbeaten half-century by Tanzid Hasan, along with a solid supporting knock from Parvez Hossain Emon, helped the hosts reach the target in just 13.4 overs. With this convincing win, Bangladesh not only won the match but also sealed the series 2-1.

Bowlers trigger Ireland’s collapse

Ireland chose to bat and started brightly. Paul Stirling attacked Mahedi Hasan in the first over and struck three fours, taking 13 runs straight away. Soon after, Tim Tector joined the assault. He hit two fours and a straight six off Shoriful Islam in the fourth over.

However, the momentum did not last long.

Shoriful removed Tector for 17 in the same over. Even though Ireland crossed fifty in just five overs, trouble followed quickly. Mustafizur Rahman broke through in the sixth over by dismissing Harry Tector in a strange but legal fashion. The ball rolled back onto the stumps after hitting the inside edge, and Harry failed to stop it in time.

Then, Mahedi trapped Lorcan Tucker lbw for just 1. After that, Rishad Hossain tightened the grip. He cleaned up Curtis Campher as the batter backed away for a cut. He later dismissed Stirling for 38 off 27 balls. From there, Ireland could not recover.

No other Irish batter crossed 20. The team was eventually bowled out for 117 in 19.5 overs. Mustafizur and Rishad shared six wickets between them and kept the pressure on throughout.

Tanzid makes history with five catches

While the bowlers did their part, Tanzid Hasan stole the show in the field. He became the first outfielder from a Full-Member nation to take five catches in a T20I match.

He took Gareth Delany’s catch at gully off Rishad. Then, he grabbed Mark Adair’s catch at long-on in the 18th over. Later in the same over, he held Matthew Humphreys’ catch at long-on again. In the next over, George Dockrell also holed out to him at long-on.

His fifth and final catch came in the last over. He moved quickly to his right to take Ben White’s catch. Before him, only Maldives’ Wedage Malinda and Sweden’s Sedik Sahak had taken five catches in a T20I.

Tanzid shines again with the bat

After a brilliant fielding display, Tanzid carried that energy into the run chase. He started confidently and struck three fours inside the first three overs.

Saif Hassan got out for 19, and Litton Das fell cheaply at the deep square-leg boundary. However, Tanzid stayed firm. He found strong support from Parvez Hossain Emon. Together, they built an unbeaten 73-run partnership.

After the powerplay, Tanzid went after Gareth Delany. He swept him for four and then smashed him over midwicket and wide long-on for two big sixes. That over cost Ireland 17 runs and shifted complete control to Bangladesh.

Tanzid reached his half-century by hitting Craig Young for six. He finished unbeaten on 55 off 36 balls, with four fours and three sixes. Parvez remained not out on 33 off 26 balls.

Finally, Parvez struck the winning boundary in the 14th over as Bangladesh completed the chase with eight wickets in hand and 38 balls remaining.
