Prime Minister Narendra Modi added a light-hearted and sweet touch to diplomacy during his ongoing visit to Italy by gifting a packet of Melody toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The cheerful exchange instantly grabbed attention online and reignited the viral “Melodi” meme trend linked to the two leaders.

A video shared on social media showed PM Modi handing over a bag filled with the popular Melody candies to Meloni. The gesture left both leaders laughing warmly during the interaction. Sharing the clip on X, Meloni wrote, “Thank you for the gift.”

In the same video, Meloni was also heard jokingly saying, “Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift… very, very good toffee. It is Melody,” before both leaders burst into laughter once again.

Internet celebrates the ‘Melodi’ moment

Soon after the clip surfaced online, social media users flooded platforms with reactions, memes and humorous comments. Many described it as the “ultimate #Melodi crossover.”

The term “Melodi” — created by combining the names “Meloni” and “Modi” — has been widely used by internet users for months while posting pictures and videos of the two leaders together. Their friendly public interactions have often become meme material online.

Reacting to the viral video, one X user wrote, “PM Modi gifting Melody chocolates to Giorgia Meloni was the most ‘Team Melodi’ moment ever. Moment Hai Bhai Moment Hai.”
