Saudi Arabia has reportedly gone on high alert after receiving intelligence about possible coordinated attacks involving Yemen's Houthis, Iraqi militias and Iran. Reports say the kingdom is preparing for a major security challenge as regional tensions continue to rise.

Intelligence Warns of Multiple Attacks

A Saudi official told CNN that the kingdom is preparing for “multiple coordinated attacks” by Iraqi militias working alongside the Iran-backed Houthis.

The official said Saudi Arabia and several regional countries have received intelligence suggesting that Iraqi militias are planning attacks “in coordination with the Houthis.” The reports also claim that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is guiding the planned operations. Other reports suggest that the IRGC may also help both groups carry out attacks against Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Vows to Respond to Any Aggression

The Saudi official, who requested anonymity, said the intelligence has caused serious concern. The warning comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is pushing for de-escalation and diplomatic talks appear to be making progress.

“Saudi Arabia will take all necessary measures to deal with any aggression,” the official told CNN.

Summit in Mecca Adds to Security Focus

The security alert comes just before a key summit between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan in the holy city of Mecca. The meeting is scheduled to begin on Friday.

The three countries are expected to announce a joint defence agreement during the summit. The pact aims to strengthen military cooperation and improve regional security.

Recent Attacks Increase Tensions

The latest warning follows the Houthis' claim that they attacked a Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden, an important global shipping route. Saudi Arabia has also faced several missile attacks from the Houthis in Yemen in recent weeks. In addition, pro-Iran militias in Iraq have launched drone attacks against the kingdom. These incidents have increased fears of a wider conflict in the region.

Saudi Arabia Strengthens Defence Ties

Saudi Arabia is also expanding its defence cooperation with Pakistan and Turkey. Reports say the three countries are finalising a historic trilateral defence agreement to build a unified regional security framework.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Saudi Arabia on Friday for high-level talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Sharif and Munir reached Saudi Arabia on Thursday ahead of the summit.

Defence Pact Nears Completion

A senior Turkish intelligence source told CNN-News18 that the three countries have agreed on all major terms of the proposed alliance. The new agreement builds on the existing defence partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. It also creates a formal trilateral framework with Turkey.

The proposed pact includes joint military exercises, defence technology transfers, defence production, intelligence sharing and closer military coordination.

The agreement highlights the growing security cooperation between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey as instability continues to spread across West Asia.
