Mohun Bagan Super Giant dominated FC Goa with a 2-0 win at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in the Indian Super League 2024-25 on Saturday. Both teams had multiple chances. However, the Mariners secured their 17th victory. An own goal from Boris Singh and a late strike from Greg Stewart sealed the win. As a result, Mohun Bagan Super Giant stayed unbeaten at home during the league stage. Furthermore, they set a new ISL record with 56 points in a single season.
Quick Start and Missed Chances
Right from the start, Mohun Bagan Super Giant attacked aggressively, pushing into FC Goa’s defense. Within the first 10 minutes, Greg Stewart and Dimitrios Petratos had opportunities to score. Nevertheless, FC Goa almost caught them off guard on a counterattack. Rowllin Borges sent a precise long ball to Borja Herrera. The Spaniard spotted Iker Guarrotxena making a run and passed to him. Unfortunately, Guarrotxena’s shot missed the target.
A few minutes later, Udanta Singh sprinted down the left flank. Even so, defender Tom Aldred reacted swiftly and cleared the danger.
FC Goa Gains Momentum

As the second half began, Udanta Singh raced down the left flank. However, Asish Rai stopped him with a reckless challenge and received a yellow card. Consequently, in the 57th minute, coach Jose Molina replaced Rai with Dippendu Biswas.
Finally, the breakthrough came in the 62nd minute. Boris Singh and Hrithik Tiwari miscommunicated, and Boris accidentally headed the ball into his own net. Hrithik was caught off guard, giving Mohun Bagan Super Giant the lead.
Sealing the Victory
After the goal, the Mariners controlled the game. Shortly after, Liston Colaco and Greg Stewart almost added another goal. Meanwhile, both teams made substitutions, with Jason Cummings and Dejan Drazic coming on after the drinks break.
With a one-goal lead, Mohun Bagan Super Giant focused on possession. Eventually, they sealed the win when Cummings set up Stewart, who calmly slotted the ball past Hrithik Tiwari. In the end, Mohun Bagan Super Giant lifted the ISL League Shield in front of 61,591 fans.
