Taskin Ahmed Destroys Zimbabwe's Top Order
Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed gave his team an excellent start with a superb new-ball spell. He removed Zimbabwe's first three batters and put the visitors under immediate pressure. Taskin troubled Brian Bennett with the first five deliveries of the match before dismissing him with the sixth ball. He then bowled Ben Curran with a similar delivery that moved in the opposite direction against the left-handed batter. Zimbabwe's debutant Tafadzwa Tsiga also failed to make an impact. He attempted a pull shot but mistimed it, sending a top-edged shot into the air. Zimbabwe found themselves struggling at 24 for 3. However, Ervine and Taylor stayed calm and began rebuilding the innings. They attacked the Bangladesh pacers with regular boundaries before using sweep shots effectively against the spinners. Ervine frequently played the reverse sweep to keep the scoreboard moving and put pressure on Bangladesh's bowling attack.Ervine and Taylor Rescue Zimbabwe With 150-Run Partnership
The experienced pair gradually turned the match around with a crucial 150-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Their stand gave Zimbabwe a strong foundation after the early setbacks. Taylor reached his first ODI half-century in six years. His previous fifty in the format came against Pakistan in 2020. During his innings, he also surpassed Andy Flower's record to become Zimbabwe's leading run-scorer in ODI cricket. Taylor's innings ended shortly after the pair completed their 150-run stand. He attempted a reverse sweep against Saif Hassan but failed to control the shot and lost his wicket. Raza followed soon after. He mistimed a sweep, allowing wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan to take a catch down the leg side. Ervine and Wessly Madhevere then added momentum to the innings by hitting seven boundaries in quick succession. However, Bangladesh struck again in a short period. Ervine missed out on a century by seven runs after a catch behind the wicket ended his innings. His dismissal triggered another collapse as Zimbabwe lost control of their progress. Newman Nyamhuri and Wellington Masakadza provided a late boost, scoring 37 runs in an unbeaten eighth-wicket partnership. Their contribution helped Zimbabwe finish at 271/8.Tanzid Hasan Gives Bangladesh a Strong Start
Bangladesh began their chase positively, with Tanzid Hasan leading the attack. He scored 46 off 38 balls, hitting nine fours and a six. Tanzid dominated the square-of-the-wicket region with well-timed cuts and square drives. He also played his trademark flicks and pull shots to keep Bangladesh in the contest. However, Zimbabwe claimed their first breakthrough in the seventh over. Soumya Sarkar edged a delivery from Muzarabani, and Bennett completed an excellent catch at second slip. Tanzid survived a chance on 46 when Muzarabani misjudged a catch at deep third. He could not take advantage of the reprieve for long, as he guided the next delivery into the hands of substitute fielder Ryan Burl. Zimbabwe struck again immediately. Evans bowled Najmul Hossain Shanto through his defences, leaving Bangladesh at 68 for 3 in the 10th over.Raza and Masakadza Tighten Zimbabwe's Grip
Zimbabwe strengthened their position when captain Raza dismissed Bangladesh skipper Towhid Hridoy in the 17th over. Raza trapped Hridoy lbw for 13 with a delivery that drifted back into his back leg. Wellington Masakadza then removed Mosaddek Hossain, who failed to deal with the left-arm spinner's angle and was dismissed lbw. Masakadza claimed his second wicket by dismissing Saif Hassan for 26. His spell put further pressure on Bangladesh's middle order. Evans returned to the attack and delivered another decisive blow with a two-wicket over. Raza had initially considered bowling the 28th over but changed his decision at the last moment. Evans used short-pitched deliveries to dismiss both Nurul Hasan and Shoriful Islam. Both batters hit the ball into the deep, where Zimbabwe's fielders completed the catches. Raza then reached a personal milestone by taking his 100th ODI wicket. He dismissed Rishad Hossain, who had scored 23 off 33 balls with four boundaries, after the batter hit a delivery towards long-on.Brad Evans Seals Zimbabwe's 99-Run Victory
Evans finished the match by dismissing Mustafizur Rahman with a caught-and-bowled effort. He then offered Bangladesh's No. 11 batter a handshake, bringing the innings to an end. Zimbabwe's bowlers completed the job after their experienced batters had rescued the innings from a difficult position. Evans led the attack with four wickets, while Raza and Masakadza made important contributions with two wickets each.Zimbabwe (ZIM) : 271/8 (50)
