IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans Power-Packed Performance Sinks RCB
Gujarat Titans crushed Royal Challengers Bengaluru by eight wickets as Mohammed Siraj’s fiery spell and explosive batting from Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford sealed a dominant victory.

Gujarat Titans (GT) crushed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by eight wickets in the 14th match of IPL 2025 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Mohammed Siraj’s brilliant spell and Sai Sudharshan’s partnerships with Gill and Buttler played a key role in the victory. Later, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford’s aggressive batting sealed the win for Gujarat Titans.

Siraj Dismantles RCB’s Top Order

Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose to bowl first. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt opened the innings. Mohammed Siraj bowled the first over, and Kohli hit a boundary on the second ball. However, Arshad Khan dismissed Kohli for just seven runs in the second over. Devdutt Padikkal came in at No. 3 but soon lost his wicket to Siraj in the fourth over, scoring only four runs. RCB was at 27/2 after four overs. Phil Salt tried to counterattack but got bowled by Siraj in the fifth over after scoring 14 runs. Liam Livingstone arrived at No. 5. By the end of the fifth over, RCB was struggling at 35/3. Prasidh Krishna kept things tight in the sixth over, allowing only three runs. Ishant Sharma struck in the seventh over, dismissing Rajat Patidar for 12 runs. RCB reached 48/4 after seven overs.

Jitesh Sharma and Livingstone Build Resistance

Jitesh Sharma joined Livingstone and played some attacking shots. He hit a six and two boundaries in the ninth over, taking RCB to 66/4. Sai Kishore was introduced in the 11th over, and Rahul Tewatia dropped Livingstone’s catch. Soon after, Jitesh smashed a boundary.

RCB Crosses 100-Run Mark

Livingstone and Jitesh built a 50-run partnership. Sai Kishore dismissed Jitesh for 33 in the 13th over. Krunal Pandya came in at No. 7 and hit a boundary in the 14th over, helping RCB reach 103/5. Sai Kishore struck again in the 15th over, dismissing Krunal for eight runs. Tim David came in at No. 8.

Livingstone’s Late Blitz

Livingstone took charge in the 16th over, smashing a six. David also contributed with a boundary. In the 18th over, Livingstone hit three sixes off Rashid Khan, reaching his fifty in 39 balls. Siraj dismissed Livingstone in the 19th over. In the final over, Tim David scored quick runs before getting out for 32. RCB managed 169/8 in 20 overs.

Gujarat Titans’ Confident Chase

GT needed 170 runs to win. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan opened the innings. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the first over, conceding only five runs. Hazlewood came in from the other end, and Gill hit a boundary. GT reached 26/0 after four overs. In the fifth over, Gill hit a boundary but got dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 14 runs. Jos Buttler came in at No. 3. Yash Dayal bowled the sixth over, and GT reached 42/1.

Sudharshan and Buttler Build Momentum

Buttler and Sudharshan played cautiously but found boundaries when needed. Buttler attacked Rasikh Salam in the ninth over, hitting two sixes and a four. GT was at 75/1 after nine overs. Krunal Pandya bowled the 12th over. Buttler smashed a six, and Sudharshan hit a four, bringing up 100 runs for GT. Hazlewood returned in the 13th over and dismissed Sudharshan for 49. Sherfane Rutherford came in as an impact player at No. 4.

Buttler and Rutherford Seal the Win

Rutherford and Buttler started dealing in sixes. In the 15th over, Buttler completed his half-century with a six. Rutherford finished the match with a six in the 18th over. Buttler remained unbeaten on 73 off 39 balls, while Rutherford scored 30 off 18 balls. Gujarat Titans successfully chased 170 runs in 18 overs, securing a dominant eight-wicket victory over RCB.

RCB lost control early, losing three quick wickets within six overs. Later, Jitesh Sharma tried to build momentum but couldn’t find his rhythm. Liam Livingstone and Tim David stepped up when needed, but RCB fell 30-40 runs short, for which credit goes to Mohammed Siraj’s brilliant bowling.

When Gujarat Titans came to bat, they had a clear plan to preserve wickets in the early overs, and it worked. Sai Sudharshan missed his half-century, but by then, GT was in full control.
