U.S. Strongly Condemns Terror Attack in Pahalgam, Stands with India
The U.S. condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, expressed strong support for India, and called for justice for the perpetrators.

The United States has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and expressed its unwavering support for India. In addition, the U.S. has called for the perpetrators to face justice.

Statement from the U.S. State Department

Tammy Bruce, a spokesperson for the State Department, said on Thursday, "As President (Donald) Trump and Secretary (Marco) Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India, strongly condemns all acts of terrorism." She added, "We pray for the lives of those lost and for the recovery of the injured. We call for the perpetrators of this heinous act to be brought to justice."

Details of the Attack

The attack on Tuesday claimed the lives of 26 civilians, most of whom were tourists. The terrorists opened fire near Pahalgam town in Kashmir.

U.S. Response to Potential Pakistan Involvement

When asked whether Pakistan might be behind the attack, Bruce acknowledged the seriousness of the situation but did not provide specific details. She said, "What I can tell you is, of course, it’s a rapidly changing situation, and we are monitoring it closely. We are not taking a position on the status of Kashmir or Jammu at this time."

President Trump's Potential Mediation Offer

Finally, when asked whether President Trump had offered to mediate between India and Pakistan during his first term, Bruce declined to comment, saying, "I’m not going to be remarking... as I mentioned."
