Sydney Sweeney Says Euphoria Will Get Wilder in Season 3
Sydney Sweeney teases a wilder Season 3 of Euphoria, calling it “unhinged” as she reflects on how playing Cassie changed her life.

Sydney Sweeney rose to fame after playing Cassie Howard in Euphoria. The HBO drama gave her a major breakthrough. In Season 1, Cassie appeared emotional and insecure. However, in Season 2, she changed. She cut off her friends and started dating Nate, which shocked viewers.

Now, fans are waiting for Season 3. In a recent interview with Empire, Sydney shared some updates. She revealed that the upcoming season will be even more intense.

Sydney Shares Her Bond with Cassie

To begin with, Sydney explained how deeply she connects with Cassie. “I have such a spot in my heart for Cassie, and I hold her really close and dear. She is crazy. She makes so many mistakes. She’s flawed on so many levels, but she does it all from a place of love. It could be a sad version of love, as well. It’s so much fun to play a character that is as crazy as she is,” she said.

Furthermore, she praised the series’ creator Sam Levinson. “Sam is such a brilliant filmmaker to work with, because I’ll read something, then I’ll call him, and I’m like, ‘Let’s go crazier.’ And he’s like, ‘I’m all in.’ And this season is unhinged.”

The Role Changed Her Public Image

Moreover, Sydney talked about how Euphoria affected her real life. “It definitely changed my life, yeah. I think that with the amount of access, with social media, and how much content gets put out there of Cassie... People do have a hard time separating actors from their characters,” she noted.

She added, “And especially someone like Cassie, where she is hated and she’s loved, but she’s definitely a complicated character. And so I think that that could confuse people, for sure. But if they’re hating me for decisions that my character is making, then I’m playing the character correctly.”

Season 3 Is in Progress

At the same time, Sydney’s performance earned her an Emmy nomination in Season 2. Currently, Season 3 is under production. Sam Levinson is directing again. The cast also includes Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, and Jacob Elordi.

Originally, Euphoria premiered in 2019 and received high praise. Then in 2022, Season 2 ended with a dramatic school play that triggered a powerful showdown.

Now, with Season 3 on the horizon, fans can expect even more drama — especially from Cassie.
