The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday carried out searches at 15 different locations across eight Indian states. These raids were part of an ongoing investigation into a suspected spy network linked to Pakistan, according to The Times of India.
Raids Conducted Across Eight States
To begin with, the NIA targeted individuals believed to have ties with Pakistani intelligence operatives. The searches took place in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Assam, and West Bengal.
Officials Recover Crucial Evidence
During the operation, NIA teams seized several electronic devices, financial documents, and other sensitive materials. As a result, investigators are now examining these items for evidence of a spy ring operated by Pakistani agents.
CRPF Jawan at the Center of the Case
Significantly, the case focuses on Moti Ram Jat, a former jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Authorities discovered that he had been leaking classified information to Pakistan’s intelligence officers.
According to reports, he provided this information in exchange for ₹3,500 each month. Moreover, the Pakistani agent tricked him by pretending to be a journalist.
Consequently, the CRPF dismissed Moti Ram Jat from service after confirming his involvement.
Investigation Still Underway
Meanwhile, the NIA is continuing its investigation to track others who may be part of this network. Overall, the agency aims to break the entire chain of operatives threatening national security.
