Ivanka Trump arrived in Venice early Tuesday to attend the much-anticipated wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez. She was accompanied by her husband, Jared Kushner, and their three children. The family was seen boarding a water taxi in the famous Italian lagoon city, which will serve as the backdrop for the couple’s lavish celebrations.
Trump Family to Stay at Luxury Hotel
According to TMZ, the Trump-Kushner family will likely stay at the Aman Venice, a five-star hotel located in a 16th-century palace on the Grand Canal. This luxurious hotel is famous for hosting George and Amal Clooney’s wedding back in 2014.
Bezos Changes Wedding Venue Over Security Fears
The wedding plans for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have seen a major shift. Originally, the couple planned to hold a party in Cannaregio, a central area in Venice known for its nightlife. However, security concerns and the possibility of protests forced a change of location, Reuters reported.
Activists have protested the wedding for weeks. They argue that such a high-profile event with around 200 guests will only worsen Venice’s already fragile environmental conditions and contribute to overtourism.
New Wedding Venue: A More Secure Spot
According to Reuters, the new venue is a hall inside the Arsenale, a large historic complex in Venice’s eastern Castello district. This 14th-century site once housed shipyards and armories. The Arsenale is surrounded by water and becomes inaccessible by land when nearby bridges are raised, making it a more secure option than the original site, the Scuola Grande della Misericordia—a former religious school in Cannaregio.
Star-Studded Guest List
Several famous personalities have already started arriving in Venice for the celebrations. Besides Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the guest list is expected to include:
-
Katy Perry, who joined Sanchez on a Blue Origin space flight
-
Leonardo DiCaprio, Hollywood star
-
Kim Kardashian, reality TV mogul
-
Diane von Fürstenberg, fashion designer
-
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO
-
Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder
Luxurious Stay for the Guests
According to People magazine, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez have booked five luxury hotels for their guests. These include:
-
Aman Venice
-
The Gritti Palace
-
The St. Regis Venice
-
Hotel Danieli
-
Belmond Hotel Cipriani
Some of these have been fully or partially reserved for what many are calling the "wedding of the century."
