Rita Ora, known for her chart-topping hits, is back in the spotlight. She released her new single ‘Heat’ last month. After a quiet phase since her last album in 2023, Rita is now working to reconnect with her fans. She shared that this new track is just a preview of her upcoming fourth studio album.
Theme of Her New Album
In an interview with People Magazine at a Wimbledon celebration, Rita explained the message behind her latest project. She said, “The whole theme of this record is really about being instant [and] really direct with my messaging and stripping everything back behind me, production-wise." She added that the energy in ‘Heat’ was perfect to prepare fans for her new musical phase.
Inspired by Troye Sivan
Rita co-wrote ‘Heat’ with Australian singer Troye Sivan. Talking about their collaboration, she said, “I love his sexuality and the celebration he has with that. I was really inspired for me and my womanhood to really kind of celebrate my sexuality, my sexiness and get back into my body, you know? And this really just embodied that."
Music Video Shot in Miami
The music video for ‘Heat’ was filmed on Miami Beach and directed by Justin Daashuur Hopkins. According to Rita, the video’s colourful visuals were inspired by photographer Martin Parr’s work. The entire video focuses on beachside scenes with bright technicolour tones.
Desire to Reintroduce Herself to Fans
Rita said she wants both her long-time and new fans to understand her better through her music. “I just feel as if I have so many things to sort of remind the public with, especially my new fans. I kind of love the idea of explaining who I am again," she explained.
Wimbledon Performance Energises Crowd
Besides releasing music, Rita Ora recently performed at The Hill in New York during a Wimbledon event. Her setlist included songs from earlier hits like ‘Hot Right Now’ (2012) to her latest single ‘Ask and You Shall Receive’ (2024). She kept the crowd singing along throughout her performance.
With her new single, Rita Ora marks the start of a fresh musical era. Fans can expect more direct, honest music as she works on completing her fourth album.
