Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma Lead India Women to Victory Over Ireland
India Women secured a dominant 116-run victory over Ireland in the second ODI, sealing the series with one match to spare.
India’s women’s cricket team triumphed over Ireland by 116 runs in the second ODI in Rajkot on Sunday. Consequently, Ireland, chasing a target of 371, could only manage 254/7 in 50 overs. Christina Coulter Reilly top-scored for Ireland with 80 runs. Meanwhile, Deepti Sharma shone for India, taking 3/37, while Priya Mishra chipped in with two wickets.

India Sets a Massive Target

Initially, India batted first and posted a colossal total of 370 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge, scoring her maiden ODI century with 102 off 91 balls. Furthermore, Harleen Deol contributed 89 runs, Smriti Mandhana added 73, and Pratika Rawal made 67. On the other hand, the Irish bowlers struggled, with Orla Prendergast and Arlene Kelly taking two wickets each.

Ireland’s Resilient Batting Falls Short

Despite the daunting target, Ireland’s batters displayed resilience, focusing on completing their 50 overs. Christina Coulter Reilly stood out with 80 runs. Additionally, Sarah Forbes and Laura Delany provided solid support. Towards the end, Arlene Kelly showcased her power-hitting skills, though it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Indian Bowlers Keep Control

India’s bowlers, however, maintained strict control throughout the innings. Deepti Sharma, celebrating her 100th ODI, took three crucial wickets. Moreover, Priya Mishra, Titas Sadhu, and Sayali Satghare each contributed with wickets, ensuring Ireland remained far from the target.
