The collision took place on a taxi line between the S Concourse and the south maintenance hangars. According to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the incident occurred shortly after 10:15 a.m. local time. The Japan Airlines plane, while taxiing, struck the tail of a parked Delta Air Lines plane. Following the collision, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily halted some flights at the airport.
