Israeli Army Prepares for Action as Efforts to Free Hostages Intensify
The Israeli army is preparing offensive plans while continuing efforts to free all hostages taken by Hamas. Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi emphasized the IDF's commitment to returning every hostage, despite ongoing challenges

Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, the Israeli army chief, confirmed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are preparing offensive plans on Saturday, February 15. This comes as the IDF works to secure the release of all hostages. Halevi emphasized that while each hostage's return is a positive moment, the IDF’s mission remains clear.

“Alongside the great excitement with the return of each hostage, we remember in the IDF our duty to return everyone,” Halevi said. “We are making great efforts to do so while at the same time preparing with offensive plans.”

Hamas Releases Three Hostages

Earlier on Saturday, Hamas released three hostages: Alexander Sasha Troufanov, Sagui Dekel Chen, and Iair Horn. This happened despite Hamas warning it might withhold hostages due to alleged ceasefire violations by Israel. Chen is a US-Israeli dual citizen.

Netanyahu’s Strong Warning

In response to Hamas’ actions, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning. He made it clear that Israel would not tolerate any delays in the full release of hostages. If Hamas failed to comply, Netanyahu said Israel would resume military operations.

“If Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will resume intense fighting until Hamas is decisively defeated,” Netanyahu stated. He added that this decision was supported unanimously by his cabinet.

Tensions Remain High

Despite the release of three hostages, tensions remain. The partial release falls short of expectations. The IDF continues to prepare for further action, and the fate of the remaining hostages is still uncertain. The future of the ceasefire hangs in the balance as both sides remain at odds.
